Question Opinions needed

I live in a state that does not check for emissions, and was wanting to get some opinions on cutting the Cat and EGR on my 89? would this give me a worth while gain or not?

I would leave the EGR but cut the cat out. The EGR wouldn't cause any problems unless it's clogged or malfunctioning, but the cat just creates backpressure and loss of power and MPG when old. I say just hack the cat off and run a test pipe with a fitting for the O2 sensor.

just take the pipe off the bottom of it and get a pipe and hammer and bust the brick out, worked for me
