Back in the game, lots of big pictures of my "new 89 DX"

its been 1 year and 3 months since ive owned a camry, well today was the day I picked up my next project. 1989 Toyota Camry DX. 5spd transmission, rebuilt 3SFE with a spew of new parts all over. Car was hadnt run for 5 months before I got to it yesterday, about 15 minutes worth of work and a consult with Fredk, I got to drive her home. $650!

and here she is -

Car runs really well, drives great, looks...well that we need to work on. Door got jacked up by a baseball bat, paint on the roof is toast, bumpers are old. Other than that the body is very straight, not a spec of rust, no dents or dings anywhere else.

And the list of things to accomplish in the next few months :

new door
LE bumpers
paint job
suspension lowered
wheels
stereo with front components, rear shelf mounted IB subs
swap out the tweed for gray velour interior
and hopefully by next summer i can start the 3SGE swap ive been wanting to do forever.

Anyways, after a year and 3 other cars, it feels good to be back.

My old one, may she rest in peice

Yep.

Congrats on the purchase, Tommy! Why do you call the car the "89 DX" though? It's a standard, not the DX. Sucks that you don't have the sweet velour though

At least the rims that were on your old Camry went to a good home

eeeewwwwww tough call on the base vs dx, that was a blurry ordeal back then, i remember you could get a base with an auto and electric windows and tweed seats but no drop seat, now i have a loaded dx with a v6-auto, tweed seats, electrics and no drop seat, and i have a base with no electrics, tweed seats, v6-5 speed and no drop seat

its all too confusing, too many options, too many different combinations. I wouldnt expect a base model to have AC, a double din cassette deck and power windows/locks, and 6way adjustable seats. I ran a carfax on it and it said 1989 Camry Deluxe. Although it is odd that it doesnt say DX on the trunk.

Might have to do some research and see what i can find about options avalable during the different years.
