1990 wagon - Loud Rattle in engine, can feel it through accelerator

i have this rattle which can be heard when i accelerate the car, and rev it while in neutral, 1ithink i can feel it in my foot through the accelerator pedal as well.

Its loud enough for the general public to hear, as i get people turning there heads when they hear my car accelerate out of a corner.

The sound is similar to a tin can inside the engine bouncing around. it sounds like its coming from underneath at the back of the engine bay, on the right hand side maybe.

any ideas ?

you can hope it has something to do with the exhaust. you can pray its not the engine's death rattle and its something mechanical inside the engine.
