91 Electrical Problem

Everything seems to work fine (headlights, windows, locks, interior lights) until you try to start the car. Then everything goes dead. After 5 minutes or so, the power comes back. If you try to start the engine again, the symptoms repeat. Battery seems strong. Symptoms just started suddenly. Im in the process of checking all the fuses, but I'm think there is a short somewhere. Any ideas would be a great help.

Thanks

First, clean the battery terminals. If no help, check the condition of the wires running from the battery. The terminals at the ends of the wires can corrode, also where wire connects to the terminal.

I figured it out...

Sorry to post before I had looked at it closer, but I was in a panic because I need the car to get to Thanksgiving. It was a real bad wiring job by whoever installed the sunroof. They had a wire going straight into the driver side fuse box and it was causing an arc between two fuses. I yanked the wire out and everything works good now.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's nice when electrical problems are so easy to diagnose, isn't it? That could have been hell...
