water collects in the spare tire well

I have noticed that water collects in my spare tire well in my camry. I'm wondering how this water gets in there in the first place...? and is there not a drain for the water to exit the well? if there is one I guess it might be stopped up? my spare rim is getting all rusted, and I'm sure that the rubber probably does not do well being in the rusty water all the time either. I'm sure the spare would work in emergency tho... just somethin that I was surprised to find.

You may also want to check the condition of your rear wheel wells in the trunk. Little pinhole rust spots can spit water into the trunk, where it generally collects in the spare compartment. If there is rust, get it fixed ASAP! It spreads like wildfire...

the side marker lites pour, they are known to fill up the fenders and slosh on into the spare tire well, take the back seat bottom out and dry it out to kill mildew because when you stop fast the water comes out of the well and forward under the back seat

Ugh! No!!!

There are two black clips on the front of the seet bottom. Pull them towards the front of the car, then pull the seete up. the front should then be free. After that rotate the seat up and forward and the seat bottom will come right out.

What I found, was that the drain tube off the sunroof had been pulled inside.

Filled 'er up real good.

Shoved it back, popped holes in the drain on contingency, and left the trunk open on dry days. It's dry now, and staying that way

It is also pretty popular to leak around the tail lights, especially the outer set.

Where was that tube located? I'm having the same problem except mine seems to fill the driver's side quarter panel more than the spare tire well. I've already caulked all the side marker and taillights. Trunk seal looks good. Cant seem to find any holes. Frustrating...

if its filling up the drivers side quarter panel, check the the rubber truck seal, my drivers side leaks. i pulled the weather strip back on the truck, and where the quarters are welded on, rusts out and creates a leak into the quarter panel. had that happen on both of my gen 2's. if you need more help, pm me and i will try to get you a pic.

The seal was solid and I dont think water couldve splashed over it. I can check for rust holes but the car doesnt have any rust anywhere else. Gotta love oregon.

Anyone know the location of the sun roof drainage tube? I've got an electric moon roof but I'm hoping it'll be similar.
