Auto-Mate alarm questions...

I just got my '91 V6 from my grandparents this thanksgiving and its equipped (apparently form the dealership) with an Auto-Mate alarm. The problem is my key fob is as old as the rest of the car and the button that is used for setting the alarm and locking the doors is starting to be a bit... umm... fiddly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Same performance out of the plastic fob. My diagnosis is that the button is giving out. My question is: is there a simple way of getting a new fob? My concern is that its so out of date that I'm going to end up having to buy a whole new system, which I'd rather not do. I'm imagining that I should be able to get a new fob from a local shop which is programmed to transmit the same signal and give me the same performance, but I've been wrong before.

Any ideas???

btw, I know I can just use the "valet mode" and all I need is the key, but I have reason to want the alarm to work too...

Best bet would be to contact AUTOMATE themselves, and see if they may have any compatible remotes. But like the Camry, I'm sure the AutoMate systems have evolved, and current remotes may not be compatible.

You might also look for remotes on ebay (any of these look like yours?)
Automate appears to be in a line of DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) products that may share common remotes.
