2nd Generation Clutch question?

Hey all,

88 Sv21 3sfe

Just a quick question. I brought a new clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing from a mate. Also a flywheel but i can't use it.

I have the 6 bolt flywheel on the engine (the flywheel i got is 8 bolt), and i'm not sure if the clutch and pressure plate will fit on the 6 bolt flywheel. I'm 75% sure. Any info would be nice.

Btw: the clutch and pressure plate are from a 3sge (mr2 i believe)

Cheers
Matt

Ferrat by now im sure you've figured out some solution - but in 30 years of working on this stuff i have tried and seen alot of improper fixes attempted like this, and rarely do they end well! So in my experience, i'd say no, i would NOT attempt to use a part not meant for your car. I'd do whatever i had to but use the correct part here, only, or you might come to grief and just have to do it all over again and perhaps break something else, besides.

Hey,

I haven't actually done it. I lack the money to buy another clutch .

A whole bunch of bills and rego has come up. Lol so i am kinda stuck.

On top of that i think the engine is on the way to dieing (mainly from the fact it has gone through an entire year of slipping clutch), so i'm decideding on what to do, since i have to replace the exhaust/suspension/tires and now looks like an engine.

So we shall see what happens.

Cheers
Matt

A slipping clutch shouldn't have hurt the engine at all - just the clutch parts that are worn out already. Also i'd be betting your flywheel needs to be resurfaced now, im sure, so that might have to come out. but that only costs a few bucks once it is off the engine - you will need an impact wrench to get it off.
