Gen1 85' Camry Won't Start

I was on the freeway (60+mph) when it all of a sudden died. No sputtering no nothing just died. Now it wont start. It will turn over but it wont fire. I checked for spark and there is no spark. I was told to replace the ignition coil and did so to no avail. It still gets no spark, and wont start. Please help I have no Idea what is wrong.

Check first for a broken timing belt. Remove the distributor cap and have someone crank the engine while you watch the rotor. If the rotor moves, the timing belt is intack. If it doesn't move, the timing belt is broken and the car will need to be towed to some place that can replace the timing belt.

Another symptom of a broken timing belt is when the engine seems to crank (turn over) a bit faster than normal. This is because with a broken timing belt there is no compression in the cylinders, so it is easier to crank the engine.

Girl replaces timing belt ^^

Thanks for the info. I checked the rotor inside the distributer before and it rotated just fine. I then tried many other misc. things to try and get it running. I then removed the timing belt cover anyway to double check, and it had slipped three teeth. I proceeded to remove and replace my timing belt, where my cousin and I, discovered that it was the sproket that runs the water pump became loose and made the belt skip. So I had to replace the water pump as well, so after 81/2 hours of labor, and a new battery. My car now runs. Thanks for your advice ^^
