2nd Generation 5spd TPS problem?

3sfe 5spd. im not too sure of this tps check. i did what the haynes manual says to dignose the tps and it seems correct.

i get no code at idle but when rev up, tps code comes on. the problem is that my rpm bogs up and down at around 1.5k rpm. everything else is normal.

is the 3sfe tps 5spd on the celica same as the camry?

I don't know.

You could ask about the two tps applications at the toyota parts counter and see if they have the same part number assigned to them.

There are 2 different ones, youll know when you pull yours off and compair. the 2 cant be swapped.

The 87-88 i believe had one type and the 89-91 had a different one. Celica probably used the older one.

how are you reading the codes? they're supposed to be read with the car in the on position, and terminals e1 and t on the diagnostics port bridged.

just go to the junk yard and grab a tps. they can be a pain to get off though.

yes the engine is on, diganose terminals are shorted. im getting a normal code at engine idle. but when rev up pass 2k or so tps code comes right on and if you let it sit back on idle for about 30 secs to 1 min the code clears back to normal. now that part i dont know if thats normal. thats why im asking if yours would do the same.

i went to the local junk and there was 6 4cyl camry but all auto. 1 celica with 3sfe but auto.
