Japan My cam.....15 years

My dad had brought my cam since 92 and know it is now 07 and it have never gave us any problems. Just shows toyota Qulity 15 year oh wear and tear in New York and this is the first porblem. I go to start it up but it wont turn over. This guy comes and gives me a jump but it still does not start up, it sounds like it is trying to turn over but it can't. I just got a new igition for it so it can't be that, can it be the battery?? i have to get a new one i guess. I just got the car painted Forest Green, got new 16' rims and new wheels. it looks so good. Have to get some pics of it up. I am working on looks first then i was going for peformance. I was going to get a new battery first and see if it will work. I will keep u updated.

seems like u said it cranks but wont fire right up...

check fuel pump... are u geting fuel. possibly checking diagnose codes first to see if ECU catches any bad sensors. are u getting spark? distributor cap, rotor, and coil all good?

if battery doesnt have juice it wouldnt crank.

Why is this in the Toyota News forum? Holy hell

And it does sound like the car is cranking, so it will not be the starter. You need to now determine whether you're not getting air, spark or fuel.

You also just got a new ignition: what parts specifically?

So i'm hearing you say the condition is that it won't crank at all. Which of course is different than the conidtion called "cranks but wont start". So the starter doesn't turn the engine over and this means the problem is a lot simpler.
If you don't know how old the battery is i'd assume the answer is probably it's TOO old. But have it tested first - after charging (and with engine off) a strong battery is from 12.6 volts or more, 12.4 is marginal and about ready to die in a little while.

It's also possible the alternator is not charging the battery too, so check that as well. If you can get a volt ohmmeter you'd want to see 14.0 volts at the battery, with the engine idling.

But with a jump it should still turn over, even with a bad battery, unless the jumper cable connection isn't good.
