2nd Generation Gen 2 front speaker help

hey guys, I bought a pair of 4" pioneer speakers for up front in my camry. I removed the driver lower dash and everything only to come to some trouble. There is the stock 3.5 speaker, then there is the 4" passive radiator pointing toward the floor. should I keep the stock speaker in its location and put my 4" in the radiators spot? I dont want all the sound going into the floor. any help?? Thanks

I think the best way to go is return your 4" speakers for 3.5's to be sure it'll be installed correctly and sound correctly. If you mount the new speaker to the passive radiator, it'll be covered by the dash and pointing to your feet. I also doubt you could modify the 3.5" hole since the width of the enclosure is smaller than the 4" speaker.

I'm with Henry.

Go with the right size in the right spot, and enjoy the high-end clarity of response typical of the small, "tweeter" variety.

I'd be thinking about putting a better speaker on the rear deck or the doors for midrange and bass response.

bose systems cant easily be transplanted. each speaker has an individual amplifer and usually those amps are toast before 100k miles. totally not worth it. They're decent sounding when they work, but they're usually busted.

3.5" speakers all kinda suck, so whatever you can get will work. dont spend much on them, chances are they'll just start to distort and crap out within 6 months

Well my JBL GTO326e's 3.5" speakers are working perfectly after 3 1/2 years with 120w of amplifier power through them. If you get some decent ones, in this case, competition series, they sound fantastic and are all neat in the stock locations. The 4" PR is still in there and provides that slightly warmer sound in conjunction with the 3.5". Don't go cheapos...waste of money when you could keep your stock speakers.

I second that, ive got a pair of JBL GTO-427 (4") up front in my 87 camry and they sound a lot better then the factory speakers did (just keep in mind that my camry is a bit different then yours) i also agree sticking to 3.5" speakers as they combined with the 4" passive radiator would produce better low frequency response then a pair 4" speaker alone would.

speakers

I think since I dont need bass from the speakers themselves I might take out that whole box assembly for the 3.5's and use the 4" speakers. I have no need, for the passive radiators since I have (2) kicker CVR 12's, Orion 600D in an Nolte Audio Box for bass

I was looking for a pair of JBL326s on ebay since several users have them and ebay said they don't match?

Brand JBL Model GTO326 Size 3.5 inch round
I guess this is what they have for our cars:

Front Speakers
Rear SpeakersSize: 4"Location: TOP OF DASH
Size: 6 1/2"Location: REAR DECK
4". these will fit right? I really need some front speakers!

The letter 'e' after 326 doesn't mean anything right? the auction doesnt have that letter...

with a little modding, 4" speakers will work just fine up front, all you need is a small grinder enjoy

one thing I did in a car I had in the past which actually sounded pretty good...

my front in dash speakers were 3.5 inch and I had a pair of 4 inch from an old car that were brand new speakers. I made it so my car powered the dash speakers, and then i made kicker boxes for the 4 inch speakers... threw them under the front seats. so I had four speakers for the front... it sounded very nice.

2nd Generation Correct Size

Go with the correct size according to what the car comes with i havent changed mine yet because they gave nice bass and iunno and they might be a pain to change because its that one big thing with the speaker inside. Get a pro from like best buy to drop that in
