now can I use a IAC valve from automatic AND manual cars or only manual with 2.0?
also, what years can I use them from? I have an 1991 DX 2.0, could I use one from an 88,89 or 90 4cyl
thanks man
It depends on 3 things 1)auto or manual?
2)was your car manufactured before or after 3/88(Im pretty sure the changeover occurred in March, but I would double check just to be sure)?
3)is it a 4cyl. or 6 cyl.?
They are pretty expensive, so I hope that your sure that the ISC is the problem
Why not take the car to a diagnostic place and see what they think?
btw the mechanic did indeed diagnose the problem, its a shop that caters to japanese cars too. When I cleaned the IAC, I cleaned all the passages on it, but didn't touch the electrical part , should I have cleaned that too some how?
I'd say no. From what I have seen of IAC's (a whole bunch from a host of companies) they have nothing inside to be cleaned or adjusted. Most have a stepper motor sealed inside using small, non-serviceable parts. The external part on most units, the pintle or valve assembly, is the part that gets dirty. Once that area and the associated passageways are cleaned, you have done your due diligence and it's time to replace a non-functioning unit.
As for cost, the IAC on my 1984 Supra 5M-GE engine cost $325 in 1986 when it failed at only 37,000 miles. In year 2006 dollars, that's $597.51.
Try yard parts, because used parts will reduce regret if the engine continues to behave the same way as before the repair. I have to say that because I don't know the basis of the diag results. Your chances are good if that shop is a Japanese specialty garage.
I once read a thread on here of a guy with a MR2 n/a that actually took his ISC/IAC apart and cleaned it, then put it back together with succesfull results. He wrote that theres these little bearings inside that need to be lubricated as the final step before putting it pack together. You might want to try it since your gonna replace it anyways......who knows
what years of the camry's can I use (87-91) can I use them all as long as the car is a manual?
I just need the IAC btw
thanks guys
I believe I already answered this earlier in the thread ↑↑↑
.....but in case you missed it, I'll quote myself ↓↓↓
