Don't worry about the cable, it's not the problem. At least, it's not this problem. You'll need to hit a scrap yard and buy a replacement guage cluster--preferably from a car with much lower mileage. Your speedometer mechanism (inside the guage cluster) is fried. Let me guess, mileage in the high 300,xxx km range? Or around 235,000miles?
I've had three Yotas blow a speedometer at almost exactly the same mileage...

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
Well, there's a fairly easy way to diagnose between a cable/driven gear problem and a bad speedometer. If it's making ticking and scratching noises when the needle wobbles, the speedometer is gone. If it's relatively silent, check the other two items mentioned. Every speedo I've had pooch on me made these weird scratching noises (my current Rolla sedan is now making the noises--cold weather brings it on).

Separate cables at the joint in engine compartment near the firewall. Using oiler, add SAE 40 oil to the upper cable. This should thin the grease and free the cable core.
