New motor--how sweet it is!

I finally got my buddy's truck today, and was able to pick up the motor I spent so much hard-earned cash on. No room in the garage, so under the tarp she goes.

It will be a huge-ass relief to get this engine ready for transplant, as my current 2VZ has endured far more punishment than she should have (stupid rural paper route).

And the pretty little "Lexus" tag on my new valve cover...

I can't wait to get it cleaned-up, too.

Yeah, my current motor actually looks a LOT better than this one, which a) endured years of salt spray, and b) spent most of its life sitting (150,000km on a 1991 ES250 = only 9400km per year).

My last priority is valve cover appearance, but this summer I'll blast the crap off and spray it with all-new paint.

Looks good TBay! When you gonna do the swap? Hopefully not till it's a bit warmer out.

Cool

Sell that & drop a 3vz-fe in it.

Boy you better get that thing in the car, or on a test stand & run it so you can check the compression while you can still send the thing back if it's junk.

You think I'm a silly bugger, don't you? I ran the car personally while it was still in their yard, and we compression tested it in their shop before they began unhooking wiring to remove it. The number three cylinder is down about 4psi, but I'm not concerned with such a small drop...if anything catastrophic is wrong I'll find it when I strip it down before installing it.

As for a 3VZ, I'd love to drop one in. Finding one would be impossible here in the boons, though--and expensive if I did find one.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to the nice spring weather--the deep freeze seems to be over tomorrow.

Yeah, and the 2VZFE shits on the 3VZFE anyways...why would you want one!

Heh heh, I sure don't have any complaints about the 2VZFE! The slushbox would suck ass, but my 5-speed has beaten a whole slew of Integras and riced-up Civics (B16 upgrades, supposedly). And it's accomplished this right up to 380,000km, only stopping because the clutch went. You definitely can't complain.

As for the 3VZFE issue, isn't toysrme also known as "Tony the Tiger"? As in, the Toronto-area 3rd-gen Turbo Camry guy? Perhaps I'm on crack, but something gave me that impression. If so, no wonder he loves the 3VZ...he just has to get rid of that auto tranny.

Cool

No I'm not Tony Leung LoL! Completely different person, cars, projects etc. I'm from Alabama, not Alberta! The a compairison is flattering nontheless LoL! Atleast for me it is LMAO!
Just commenting. Wish yall had some way to improve the economy in that little engine. For whatever reason. Even after it got o2 feedback it get's 19-20mpg pulling a 2800lb car, Where the 3.0L's were getting 23-24mpg toting 3200-3300lbs around. (and the mr2 swaps are rediculous, even on the 3vz-fe which has the worst economy of the 3.0L+'s, people ahve posted up getting high 30/sometimes breaking 40mpg mpg cruising around.) I've been trying to figure that one out, but don't quite understand it. Maybe the crossover pipe is a major killer.

Jetspeed what kind of economy improvement did you get with the headers?

Not much at all really. I did get good gains in economy with the 5 speed though. The auto was a killer for economy. Perhaps thats why there rated low? A540E FTL!
