AFM question..lets try again

Was getting some network error and my post wasn't going through. Sorry about that.

I have a faulty AFM on an 88 3sfe camry. E2 to VC has 0.2ohm instead of 200-400. Car has been sluggish accelerating from a stop but runs fine on the highway. Mileage is around 25.

I swapped the AFM from my good running 87 Celica ST. Part number difference were 7410 for the camry and 7412 or 7413 for the Celica.

My test drive with the camry with the swapped AFM was great. Acceleration was there unlike before. But this morning my car is back to its sluggish self.

Did I just fry the AFM due to differences in AFMs being swapped or do I have a problem farther up from the AFM itself.ECU or wiring?

Short in Vc to E2 will cause the trouble code to appear.

I'm a much better parts changer

then a trouble shooter. I'm getting diagnostic code 32 which means E2 open circuit or VC/VS short circuit. Went back to the factory manual and re read the FI diagnostic pages. Checked the air flow meter itself again. E2 to VC was 280ohm and in spec. I was using the wrong pin the last time E2 to VS was 780ohm with the metal gate closed also in spec.

With the key ON at the AFM connector, disconnected from the AFM, I have 4.95V on the VC pin and only 1.5V at the VS pin. Spec for VS is 4-5V. I'm losing voltage somewhere along the way.

I'll check the electrical diagrams in the manual to see if there is any connectors along the way to the AFM connector to make sure they are tight.

I also need to check the E2/VC/VS pins at the ECU. Is the ECU in the glove box?

I wanted to ask the fine folks here if I'm on the right track. I'm really when it comes to this electrical troubleshooting.

Thanks

Brian

The ECU is located below the ashtray. Fold out carpet on the passenger side to expose black plastic connector cover. Unclip and fold the cover down and you will see the yellow connectors.
However my suggestion is to check E2 ground connector point which is the bolt on the back of intake manifold. If it loose it will set the false code 32.

I'll check that E2 ground

I pretty sure I snugged that one up when I put the motor back in. I'll check though. My car when it had the 1st engine in it ran somewhat poorly towards the end of it's life. Now the new engine is running poorly also. I wonder if I have a broken wire?

Cleaned up the E2 ground

It was tight but the ground had some grease on it. Cleaned it up and a quick scrubbing with some sand paper to make it shiny. Went to check the codes and now I have code 24 along with 32. 24 is intake temp sensor. My AFM checks out according to the manual. The only problem I have is with the key on the E2 VS on the connector (really says at ECU in manual) has 1.55V instead of 4-5V stated in the manual. Are there other grounds I need to check? Or is it time to check the ECU?
