I'm a little more worried about the few drops of oil under the car than the few drops of red paint on the sunroof wind deflector.

Nice job! I got some rust around my windows too and want to try this also. How do the steps go? Sand till bare metal, apply bondo, sand bondo, and paint?

grind to bare metal with fiber disks. bondo in the low spots. prime. identify more low spots, sand, bondo, sand. prime. sand with 1000 grit wet dry. paint 3 coats. clear coat 3 coats.

I put a length of 1/4 inch rope under the windshield seal to lift it enough to get the paint sprayed evenly underneath it.

I got a little orange peel effect. I think it was because my garage was a little bit cool for the last couple of coats of clear. In any case, it's much better than looking at the rust.

So splat some bondo on the bare metal and then prime? What does that mean? What does wet dry mean? Is there a big contrast between the freshly painted layer and the old paint? I think if I do it on my car, they'll be a noticable difference (I will take some pictures). Nice paint color by the way, I've never seen it before.

Dang, just looking at that rust gives me shivers. Great job at fixing it.

Got small areas around my rear window with rust forming (edges at top), but it looks nothing like that...

Was the water actually getting into the car from that rust?

The bondo needs to be sanded. Apply bondo, let it dry, then sand. Apply more bondo in the low spots, let it dry, then sand. Repeat the process till everything is smooth and level (no high or low spots).

Primer acts as a sealer and gives something for the paint to adhere to.

Wet/dry is refering to wet/dry sandpaper. It can be used wet (with water) or dry. I suggest using it wet.

Let's see a pic of two of the car without the newspaper and stuff on there.

It looks like you did a nice job on it!

Pardon the dusty, dirty car. I lost some of the gloss and developed some orange peel due to falling temps when I applied the last coat of clear. I could buff it out a bit but, frankly, it's not that big of a deal to me at this point. I still need to take a heat gun to the universal windshield seal to get it to lay down right...just want to give the paint plenty of time to cure before getting to radical on it.

And a shot of last night's projects that were gold before I started. These were done in a bonafide paint bay under controlled conditions:
