2nd Generation Replacing the 3S-FE

Hey Guys,

I'm going to be replacing my 3S-FE with a low KM Jap import, Can anyone give ma a rundown of the things I should do o make sure it's done right?

I've been told it's a smart thing to replace the water pump and the timing belt when replacing the engine.

The car has been sitting dormant in my back yard for about 2.5 years, I've been advised by several places that I'd be up for about $1800 for the new motor, installed and about $150 for the belt and pump.

Any advice here would be most welcome

Stretch

Replace cam seals, timing belt tensioner (if needed), front and rear main seals (crank)

If having a shop do the work, might have them find the engine then ask for a warranty. They will be more inclined if they supplied the engine.

Change out the trans and differential fluids especially if automatic. Also the drive axles and anything that is much easier to get to when the engine is out.
