2nd Generation Rack and pinion

What sup yo, I just replace the cv boots and the new axel. Now I found out my rack and pinion (the rubber part) is torn out. I was wondering is it important to replace it or just leave it?

The purpose of the boots is to keep out road dirt, sand, etc from the rack and rack end(s). Over time this will wear out the seals, connecting rod joints, etc. If you do the job yourself replacing them is not too bad a job. Keep track of how many turns it takes remove the rod ends or where the nut is. Any thing to allow you to reinstall the rod ends in the same position.

Yup, otherwise you'll be paying $70 for an alignment you could've easily prevented.

Here's a tip: before you unthread the tierod end from the rack, mark it's location on the threads with paint. It'll make it easier to re-tighten to the right location.
