automatic head lights on an 87

Hi, my moms car has a feature that turns the lights off if the ignition is off and lights are on when the drivers door is open, was that a stock feature or did the previous owner install it??? I want to find it and see if it can be wired into my car, guessing it's just a relay or something...

Thanks, i found it it was a white module that just plugs in, problem is that my car (an 87 also) is just the basic model, so the module plugs in but there is another socket for wires to plug in also, i can't seem to find the plug on my car, is it plugged into something else? or does it just not exist because it didn't have the option?????

The wiring is different between the LE model (with the auto lights, slow dim interior light, door lights, etc) and the DX and base model Camry. I've had a '90 DX and a '90 base model and neither of them had the auto-off headlights.

I haven't studied the diagrams enough to know if you can add that feature easily if you have access to a donor car.

I do know 1 thing, there are several dash wiring harnesses for the gen2 so you probably wont be able to just plug in the controller and make it work
