2nd Generation electronic shift sensor failure?

Around a month ago I replaced the transmission with a BRAND NEW transmission from JDM motors, well like 2 weeks after that i went to go into reverse and it just sit there in neutral so i turned the car off and restarted it and it went into reverse fine, but for some reason my overdrive light kept flashing but everything was running fine, well now for my deliema about a week or so ago i was coming home from work and then it just went into neutral from drive and wouldnt pull anymore, so i pulled over and checked the sensor relays and ect under the hood and pushed on the electronic shift sensor on the front of the transmission, (the 20 or so pin connector to the tranny) and got back in the car, restarted it and went on my way, but now that little quick fix doesnt fix my trans anymore, and when i start my car i hear i loud whine from the trans when its in park but i know the gears and clutches n such are in perfect shape i had them checked, so what im asking is should i replace the sensor with the one from my old tranny's or should i just convert this thing to a standard for $600 and get i over, and if i go standard has anyone ever done it before????? if so little help????

so it's brand new, and its cocked up already. did the place you got the tranny from have any type of warranty since it was "brand new"? At anyrate, your best bet is to take your car to a reputable transmission shop and find out what their diagnosis is, and the proper remedy for the situation. Some shops in my area do that diagnosis for free even. I had my A140e trans rebuilt for about 1,700 dollars. which is a very good price for a rebuilt trans. But rebuilding a trans that is "brand new" seems kind of silly. I highly doubt it will require a rebuild since it was "brand new"

Any warranty here, if so take it back and have the shop fix it. A blinking O/D light may be attempting to state a trouble code was stored. Does this car have some kind of OBD system, if so get the codes read. Is the trans gear lever moving when you shift gears? What year is this car?

I would first attempt to get this trans fixed, if still issues buy a used one. You can put in a standard stick but it might be more trouble then it is worth unless you find a complete parts car and can pull off every part you need at one time.

There are a few posts on conversion to a stick including a parts list. Do a Camry history search.

Well, I Kinda Got A Deal Through One Of My X-girlfriends That Worked For Jdm Motors, So Needless To Say For What I Gave For The Transmission Im Not Really That Worried About It, It Was An Overstock, So Ummm *cough* Cheap..... :d But I Just Dont Feel Like Going Through The Trouble Of Changing To Another Automatic Trans Again, Alot Of Wrench Time To Get It To Line Up. So If Anyone Can Show Me Some Links Or Ect On Where To Get Started On My Manual Swap Please Do So, Btw My Swap Is Comming Out Of An 89 Gen 2 Camry Wagon So I Get The Whole Car Now For $300 :d......
