Problem with power locks

The other day I went to lock the doors to my car with the power door switch on the driver side, but it didnt work. So, i tried the passeger side switch and it locked and unlocked. The driver side does unlock, but doesnt lock.

I have noticed that this issue was ittermittent before...once in a while the drivers lock wouldnt work, but if I tried a few times it would always lock eventually. The passenger always worked no problems.

Does this sound like the switch or the wiring, etc... somewhere? I had already re-wired alot of things in the door to get the power mirros, etc... to start working. I didnt see any other damaged wires.

Check the wiring between the drivers door and the frame.

mine does the exact opposite...
When the driver's door is open, it won't unlock, but will lock. when the door is closed, it works fine.

I guess it's another problem, but right now, as long as the car locks and unlocks, i should be fine.

But i also would like to know what's causing power lock probs for my future reference

The wiring between the driver's door and frame often gets damaged from open/close action.

Might download the wiring diagram from the link below.

Thanks, i'll check again, but I was just in there a few months ago and fixed a lot of wires. Is there any possibility it could be the switch itself, since it works to unlock, but not to lock?

I guess I could check the switch with a multimeter, but I dont know which contacts to check.

2nd Generation

With the LE models there is a safety feature which will prevent you from being able to lock the power locks when you first turn off the engine with the key in the ignition. If the problem occurs only after when you first turn off the motor you might want to check the wiring going to the ignition tumbler or you might have debris from key wear in the tumbler confusing it.
