1st & 2nd Generation (1983–1986 & 1987-1991)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1983-1986 & 1987-1991.
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I had forgotten just how lucky we all are to have this forum at our disposal, but I've been reminded.
I'm removing a transmission at work from a car I've never worked on before (91 Chevy Lumina 3.1L) and I was hoping for some online manuals or tips. After searching countless cheezy forums (and a couple of really good ones) I'm still going to be doing this job on instinct. There's just not much information out there, the likes of which we all have here in this forum.
All hail ToyotaNation!

Honda my A$$, you just can't kill a Yota...
you might even be likely to find some help on toyotanation's forums on your General Motors transmission project... lots of mechanically competant people here who are usually willing to help.
btw, my sis has a 96 chevy lumina, and I know its not the same generation as the one you're probably working on, but I can tell you, lumina's are POS... and PIA to work on.
i fourth this. i've already gotten a lot of help here and I'm new to posting on this forum. I registered a while ago (almost a year ago).
TN Rocks!
wish there were stickers though.

I too will pass out cudos. After my Camry was T-boned, mom's Cutlass was available. I have not found anything like this forum for that car. The wealth of knowledge here is outstanding and the focus on the problem(s) is commendable. Until I buy another Toyota (soon I hope) I keep coming back to this forum even though I don't own one!
I would have to agree there are alot of competent people in here who know what they are doing. In the other forums there are alot of people who just have no clue or they jump on any new item that comes out without being critical.
This is the best forum I'm a part of. Thanks Everyone!
That's awesome...everyone's got the warm-and-fuzzies! It's too bad everyone is so spread out over the continent, or we could get some meets on the go. Oh well.
As far as stickers, wait for the TN Store to reopen (there's a link near the top of the page). I bought a couple of window decals several years ago, they were only a few bucks.
And lastly: yes, Luminas are complete crap. Not necessarily to own, but to work on. I had to drop the whole subframe just to get the transmission out. If I didn't have a loader with forks to help with the job, I'd go nuts. I had to drop the engine/tranny/subframe, then lift the car up and over the assembly to get it out of the way. STUPID DESIGN.
