2nd Generation Ever use you Gen 1/2 in a race?

This is kind of off topic, but has anyone ever used their Gen 1 or Gen 2 in a race. I had to once when my race car an 89 corolla awd rally modified was lets say totaled after 2 stages of a 3 stage event back in 1996. I ripped the trans, right driver's side wheel assembly, suspension and part of the floorboard off on the drivers side. I launched on a rut while going around a corner and slammed over a fallen tree . It scared the crap out of my Co-Driver. She puked after jumping out of the car.

So I used my daily driver 89 LE 4cyld automatic on the last stage. It did pretty good. No way I would ever match the other car, but it held up pretty good.

This was just an amature event with a car club I used to be in. Nothing professional, but Dunlop did sponsor my car and gave me a pull over and free tires just to put their name on the car. It was through a local seller of the tires.

I placed 6th out of 7 entries the last place team was a DNF due to engine failure. They didn't care about me using my daily driver since it was a just for fun event. The DNF guys just didn't bother to get a vehicle to finish. I finished 53 seconds behind the 5th place car on the 3rd stage.

Just one advice tid bit if you plan on taking your camry rallying be careful braking and the E-brake along with throttle helps keep you in control rather than locking up your Non ABS brakes. Just beware of over steer. The stock suspension holds up pretty well, but will break loose quite a bit from roll ,so fast cornering is out of the question when trying to slide it around. If you get the basic concept of the limits it is pretty impressive though. I did better test runs with the camry than I did with the corolla when it was stock. The corolla being lighter was alot more loose when driving and wanted to go all over the place until the suspension was modified.

I have a new 89 Camry LE 4cyld since my parents have the one mentioned above now and this one isn't going anywhere except cruising.

I autocross my 1990 camry dx. I haven't got a good set of tires on it yet, but recently fixed a mushy suspension on it. I run STS. this past month's event was the first on the new suspension, majorly improved the car's abilities. After I get good tires I think I might be able to challenge more drivers.

Never really raced my car on a track, I've messed around with some friends though.

My Camry got wasted in a drag against my friend's Ford E-150 Club Wagon, sadly. And just 2 weeks ago, I was racing my friend in his 3.1L Cavalier Wagon up a slightly downhill highway. He and I were both doing 110, but he was weaving in and out of traffic like an asshat, and I wasn't, so he obviously had me there.

LMAO Club Wagon. I guess that's when you have to stop and consider how much gas he used to do it though...

I raced our Celica yesterday from a light with me in the Camry and wife in the Celica...you can probably guess the outcome...

What does your camry run?

Assuming you mean a foxbody mustang . . . was it an automatic?
A friend of mine's bolt-on 90 lx notch went some 9.30s in the 1/8 with welded-in flowmasters, 3.55s, electric fan, underdrive pulleys and bbk shorties. It was a stick however . . . I remember he picked half a second going from the AOD to the t5. I think the best pass he ever went with the aod was like a 9.90 something. We laughed when it barely cracked the 9s.

Gotta read the rest of the posts bro, talking about a 4th gen celica gt - same engine/transmission as a gen2 camry. 4th gens were dogs and handled like poo.
