I've never seen anything much for a 1st gen. custom made would probably be best. I wonder if the lexus es250 bar would be a close fit though?

I've only seen one 1st gen still on the road ever, and it was rusted out pretty bad too...

Gen1's are extremely rare, aftermarket support is nana, zero, rei, nothing, zap. You just might have to consider looking for a custom made one or mod one from an similar model that will fit.

I drive a Gen1 and it's a very nice car, body rusts like crazy when it begins. A lot of Gen1 has that typical 'gas door' rust.

The ES250 is basically a Gen2 camry but with the extra touch of 'refindment' to it.

Greetings rockhard, from a fellow Generation 1 owner. (84 Camry LE Liftback, 298,000 miles)

This is my first post on this board, stumbled upon it trying to answer the same question as you. To my knowledge, nobody makes a strut tower bar for the 1st generation Camry. I think I read somewhere that the early front-drive Celicas used the same front struts, does anyone know if this is true? Could a strut tower bar fro a Celica be kitbshed to work on the Camry?

To answer your second question, believe it or not, there is one company selling rear anti-sway bars for the first generation Camry. I bought mine about 5 years ago, and it transformed my car from a boring family sedan into a real sleeper that's an absolute blast to drive. You're probably dying for the link, aren't you?

http://addco.net/Toyota-Yugo_AntiSwaybars.htm#Toyota

Addco says it's a do-it-yourself install, but I decided to pay someone else to do it and it took 3 guys all afternoon to get it the thing on. I paid $330 total, and I was told I got a bargain. Back then there were still several of these bars in stock, but the latest catalog shows it as a special order item. Good luck.

Oh and by the way, if you don't already have high-performance tires, you will need them. Trust me...

Diesel 1G's have factory rear sway bars

I'd love to get one for mine... as well as a Celica suspension conversion, and rear disc's. I have Axxis Ultimate pads on the front of the car, with some decent rotors, and that alone transformed the car immensely. It brakes better than my MR2 and '08 Camry.
