Holy crud that's a lot of stolen Camrys

Well, next time you're questioning your choice of ride (I'm sure you wouldn't do that, now would you?), remember to check this page:

Yep, someone attempted on mines. I think they ended up stealing the tires and messed up the door locks. This was a looong time ago when I was like 8 or 9 years old. Now I drive it .

Never ever saw a Gen1 on the most targeted list. Tons of Gen2's though but I believe now the major targets are the Gen3 since now they are becoming aged now.

Easy to steal is right. My wifes 03 didnt even come with any type of alarm or anti-theft which suprised the hell out of me.

any car is easy to steal. you just have to know how to override the security system.

of course w/ the laser cut key systems, car manufacturers are making it difficult for car boosters to do their 'job'

ive left my car running in the parkinglot on accident because of distractions on two different occasions...

and i still have the damn thing.

i guess in illinois we only steal nice cars.

and and to reply to the above post, its because "as it was said" gen2 camrys are so easily stolen. you can take almost any camry/toyota key and run one of our cars.

Gen 2 camrys get big bucks in the illegal smuggling business to 3rd world countries. Same with Toyota Pickups.

I used to know a few guys that used to buy cars legit and then fix them and ship them to Honduras. They were getting almost 3 times more then they would here. They sold a 91 corolla dx for $6,000 USD in 2001. It almost made me think about changing my career lol

Come to think about it, most Gen2 ignition key is so worn down, any toyota key could turn them on, lol.

Not sure if thats a bad thing or not but it does show something on how valuable Gen2's are still.

Yeah, the Thidr World issue definitely bears on this issue...just watch any news footage from Africa, Central America, or South America. It looks like 1991 all over again, with Gen2 Camrys all over the place. Yota trucks are insanely popular, too. No wonder Toyota is gunning for GM's place at the top of the global auto pile.
