Sound deadening

It's a shame that not all the Camry models have the dampener carpet under the hood, which I only saw once. I think it'd help. Do you guys have any of the Dynamat stuff under your floors or anywhere else? I'm sure the people with the sound systems do. I'd like to cut down on the road noise since tires didn't really do much for me. If there's any recommendations on a generic brand, let me know .

Sound deadener isnt really something you can do cheaply and have good results.

At a minimum its going to cost you a $1/sq ft, but that price can as much as triple when you buy quality stuff.

Its a lot of reading, but this will basically explain the pros and cons of different deadeners. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/

Its a labor intensive process, but it is helpful, and realisticly its not that expensive to do it right. 100sqft will be more than enough to do your doors and probably most of your trunk, which is where most people start with.

As far as the under hood lining, it doesnt do much for noise, only thing ive noticed it helps prevent is the windshield from fogging up when its raining/humid.

I believe all the hoods are the same, so why not consider getting a hood pad and the plastic retainers from a salvage yard in your area. They will know what hoods fit what years. If the retainers you find are broken from taking off the pad, you can get a package of them at stores like NAPA for $5 or $6. I'm sure this would be the cheapest approach if you really want a hood pad for your car. Just make sure your current hood has holes for the plastic retainers.

I might try to get some of these

Probably put some on the front fenders and wheel wells, see how they work. Any thoughts on locations?

you can put it anywhere. most noticable is going to be in the cabin, floors, doors, roof, trunk, firewall.

buy as much as you can afford and go to town. But spring for the SE. it will withstand higher temps.

I used dynamat and put some in the two front doors behind the panel and in the trunk. I think I've noticed a difference in the front doors to lessen road noise.

Yeah I was thinking of putting some behind the two front door panels, wheel wells, and fenders. Not sure about the trunk though, as I don't have a system or anything.
