2nd Generation Filling oil up in 1990 Camry

Just drained the gearbox oil on a manual 1990 Camry.

Just wondering where I fill it from?
I realise I should have checked from before... but I have done gearbox oil changes on other cars and the oil was on the gearbox casing.

Anyone can please tell me where to fill it from?

Thanks

I had the same proble so I got the manual. Its on the front of the gearbox hard to see behind the battery. I found it best to get at by removing the plastic panel underneath the car, 6 or 7 screws. I was a bit suprised to see red fluid come out when I drained it. Referring back to the manual it used auto fluid..

The manual recommends Dexron II or better, I was unsure so I confirmed it with a mechanic.

I used castrol dexron III from super cheap, I think, I don't think it has a viscosity rating.

ALways Remove Filler plug BEFORE Draining FLuid.

Helpful hint, ALWAYS find out where the filler plug is, and REMOVE IT, BEFORE you remove drain plug! If you cant remove the filler plug to put in the fluid, then what are you going to do, set the car on its side?
Youd have to drill it out if you could even get a drill in there, which is doubtful....so just remove the drain plug first. I have had many if not MOST of the drain plugs on manual trannys, turn out to be so tight from the factory that it took me DAYS of trying to get them out! Also they are easy to strip the head. If you do this before you drain the oil, no big deal after all. But if you do it after the fluids out...no way to get the fluid back in, gravity being what it is.

Unless you have a V6 manual (which uses normal gear oil).

Some on the forums have had perfectly good luck with gear oil in the 4-cylinder manual transmission. If you aren't grinding into gears and the tranny feels good, you should be fine with the gear oil as it is. I don't have first hand experience though...
