17"s will look way out of place on a gen2, expecially on stock suspension, and with 225's youll rub like a bitch in the back.

i've tried 225/50/16 on for a fit on mine, and rubbed in the back. i'd go with a 16inch rim if I were you. you can probably (but I'm still guessing, so i might be wrong) get a 225/45/16 to fit. yokohama's A048's come in that size. 200 bucks a tire tho.

225/45/17 is too big for your car. I believe 225/40/17 is the right size for the Camry. If you have the right offset (38-42) you can run 225 width tires. You might have to roll the fenders in the rear, and you will loose some turning radius (they rub the frame rails at full lock).

I run 205/50/16 tires on 16" wheels with a 35mm offset. I don't rub other than on the frame rail at full lock.

i tried mounting a set of Enkei 17" Shogun's on my car the other day, ( i got the wheels for free) and i couldnt get them on the rear because of the strut. front fit nice, no rubbing (except when the fender comes down on top of the tire when i hit a bump). not sure what tire was on it, just remember being really pissed off because the back didnt work. but yea
17's look alittle out of place. i will take my 15" rolla wheels anyday.
