How to retrofit A/C to 134a?

I'm a newb to this board from Kansas City. I've owned a 91 Toyota Camry 4 banger for about 3 years now. When I went to turn the A/C on lately it wasn't blowing cold air. Compressor is engaging, so it must be low on freon. Have any of you guys converted to r134a? Do you really need a new dryer and flush to get the old oil out. If you put in the compatible ester oil and charge it up will it have any problems? I've heard a lot of talk about replacing o-rings, compressors, and dryers. What do I really need? What have you guys made work? I appreciate the input.
Thanks

i dunno, you probably should do all that stuff, but when i recharged mine, i didnt. I just went out and spent $35 on one of those retrofit kits that includes like 4 cans of 134, the adapter valves and the nozzel for the cans. the 134 in the kit also had ring conditioners and stuff in it.

i didnt have any problems, worked fine for as long as i had the car.
