1987 ECU Location / parting out.

I'm parting out a rolled 87. What is the easiest method to remove the ECU? I understand it is behind the ashtray, but I don't see it. The techique doesn't have to be pretty. Any other relays or parts I should take?

The ECU is not behind the ashtray, it`s under the carpet below the ashtray. The ECU wires has plugs so no cutting is needed.

If you were sitting in the front passenger seat, the ECU would be next to your left foot underneath the dash (right above the exhaust pipe). All you have to do is reach down there, pull the carpet back with your hands, and there it is. Do the same on the driver's side.

I'm not 100% sure, but there might be functional differences between the 87-88 and 89-91 3S-FE ECUs in case you're moving it to another car.
