Camry starts fine but stalls

My friend has a 1990 4 cylinder Camry. When he drove it the car started to sputter then stalled. He waited a few minutes and it drove fine for a couple of days. The car then did the same thing, this time the car wouldn't start until the next day.

Now his car starts fine, but if he drives it more than 15mph it will stall. If he floors it from a stop it will stall (but if he floors it while the gear is in netural it will work fine). I checked the codes and it shows a code 14 error. I replaced the igniter but it still does the same thing.

Does anyone know how to fix this. I did a search on code 14 and other people had similar problems but the fix was not posted. If you know how to fix it could you please post the solution?

Thanks in Advance

Well, personally, my first step would be to replace the plugs, wires, fuel and air filter.

Verify that there is a continuity for Igt and Igf wires from igniter to ECU.
Move the wire harness to verify that such continuity exists
Clean the mounting pad for igniter because it is used as a groung path
Is the car equpped with the TACHOMETER?
Finally, hook up the wir wth test light to the BLK-ORANGE wire to the igniterthe test light must be on as long as ign. on indicating that power is supplied to the igniter

there are lots of possible causes why car stalls: bad fuel pump; bad oxygen sensor; fuel filters; low transmission fluid; weak spark - it would be best to check the those toyota auto parts to see if there's something wrong and if it needs a replacement. good luck
