Found this set of Motegi 16x7 wheels on Craigslist a local guy had. Picked them up for $250 yesterday. Tires are 225/50's Had to shim out the rear wheels about 3mm to keep from rubbing on the struts. Tires have great tread left on them, but unfortunately they are badly dry-rotteed and will have to be replaced very soon. I should have enough life left in them to try out this size tire. Although I've only driven it a few miles with the new tires, it seems to do good with no noticable rubbing. Also a pic of the new steering wheel.
Darn, Never got to seen that car so shiny until now. Looks like it just drove out of a showroom floor.
Just took a noticed, did you swap out cluster for the one with the tach? I know the un-badged and the DX trims had no tach while the LE models (both V6 and I4) had the tach. Maybe I wasn't here when you did that or mentioned it.
So...your basket weaves are going back on the wagon? Looks like your gonna have to update that sig XD
Lower it? I might think about it now that it's got decent wheels.
Kingdom, thanks! It only had 42k on the clock last july when I got it. Now I'm just about ready to go in for the 65k oil change. It's always been garage kept, and I've probably waxed it at least 10 times since I've had it. And yep, the basketweaves will probably end up back on the wagon.

How's life with the Cresida?
Nice. I always cring when I see some immaculate car going to a home where it is used for a beater. 42K is super low, lower then some 2 year old cars.
10 Times waxed? Man, even I don't do that much on my Camry or Cressida. I just get too lazy to wash the white terry cloths I use for wax. What kind of cloth do you use to wax the car with?
Life with the Cressida is currently still...on stand by. I did get the starter replaced, but I believe the problem that I was having is now caused by a out of wack 'Neutral Start Switch' which needs adjustment (Reverse light only goes on when pushed up on shifter). I also went to a local junk yard to find parts for it, but luck has it that I didn't find no Gen1 Camry or Gen3 Cressidas. Found lots of Gen2 Camrys though (A few V6's and one I4 5spd). I took a part or two from a Gen2 Camry to use in my Gen3 Cressida and Gen1 Camry. The clear front blinkers look great on my '85, but I can't find any orange 1156 bulbs for it. I know that the '90 and '91 Camry uses the 1157 oranges though.
While the Cressida is still not being used, I bought a car cover that should protect the car's finsh and interior from the sun since I don't exactly have a garage (my mom's 2001 Camry uses it). I'm not going to let this Cressida deterorate under my care.
So...Going to go try get safety check done this week at my uncle friends place (hopefully he can pass it) and get the other papers done (finally, it's late fee already). I soo need to get the Cressida running so I can get my much needed pads and rotors replaced since they are badly worn and I'm starting to feel some brake fade.

Hang in there and get that Cresida back in tip-top shape!
I really gotta start checking the local yards for a Gen 2 with a 5-speed. Really want to do that swap.
I use some blue polishing cloths I got at Wal-Mart, they're called "microfiber". They're like a really soft and plush terry cloth. They sell them in 2 different packages by the wax. One package has more cloths in it, the other package looks almost like the same ones, but they're a bit nicer, fewer in the package and more expensive. Those are the ones I got. I use Meguire's (sp?) cleaner wax most of the time.

I guess automatic is getting boring for you, lol. I wouldn't mind having a Gen2 with stick, thing is that would mean I would have 3 cars...not counting another one that is my grandpa/mines... I so want to learn stick XD
Hmm, I might try those cloths as I used to use terry cloths and well...they leave those 'swirl' marks sometimes. Do you know how to get rid of them? Compound and wax doesn't seem to do much to them once they are there. Do you recommend any interior wipes to restore/protect the inside? I used to use armor all but I heard it cracks in interior, not sure if thats true.
The real motivation behind wanting to collect stuff for the 5-speed swap is the fact that my slushbox is starting to slip in reverse.... the beginning of the end.
For the swirl marks, you could try using Turtle Wax polishing compound, or maybe some sort of swirl & scratch remover. Always wax your car in the shade, when the body is cool. Also, always use clean, soft cloths for application and removal. Wet your application cloth or foam applicator pad, and work on a thin layer. Too much excess wax to remove won't help any.
As for the interior, I don't know.... I still use Armor-All, for the lack of knowing what else to use. I never leave it on thick though, I always rub it out with a dry cloth after applying it. I've used it for years, but never had a car for years that I've used it on, so I can't speak of the possible long-term affects of using it.
nice homegrown, i like.... 225 wide tires, was going for that for my autox habbit... 225 is max width for STS. if you lower it you wont have to worry about rubbing in the front on the fenders in normal driving circumstanbces. but if you drive yours like i drive mine... you'll want to flare your fenders out a bit... Looks really nice!

Wait, thats for your wagon or your sedan that is slipping? If it's for the sedan with 65K, thats a bit interesting.
Waxing usually for me can't be done in the shade, so overcast day is the only time for me...unless I steal the garage, lol.
Thanks midnight! I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my car.
Yeah Kingdom, it's the sedan that's slipping. Oddly enough, the wagon shows NO signs whatsoever of any tranny issues, and it's got 365k miles on it!
If you don't have shade, you can always drive around and look for a commercial building that's vacant, or not open on the weekends that might have an outside covered area. I used to do that when I lived in Indiana in an apartment. There was an old vacant K-mart building that had a nice covered delivery area.
