A/C Sensor?

I just replaced the A/C System in my 89 Camry 4cyl. New Compressor, Reciever/Drier, Fans, R134a Conversion, Fully Charged with no leaks.

The car blows super cold air no problems but only after a couple of days. It seems like the compressor only kicks on when it wants to. So at times it doesnt blow cold air at all. The a/c light is still green tho.

Is there a sensor that I need to replace? Maybe a relay? Where can I check? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Rob

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for all that? I think that's the next step for me too....

Was the system evacuated of all moisture, the evaporation valve can freeze up otherwise causing intermediate cooling? It is normal for the compressor to cycle on/off. Is the car being keep cold or is warm air coming out inbetween the cold air cycles?

I bought all the parts online for $250 and I had a mechanic friend install them for $200. Other shops quoted me around the $1000+ range just for repairs.

The A/C system was completely evacuated. And there were no leaks detected.
The car's a/c ran Ice Cold for a couple of days. And Man it felt good! But now The compressor isn't kicking in anymore. Im thinking it may be electrical or a faulty relay.

Is there some kind of sensor or switch that activates the clutch on the compressor?? The system is fully charged with R134a and there are no leaks when we tested it out. And The only A/C relays I found were under the hood.

If no AC at low rpm, it may be coincidental, there is an idle-up valve on firewall on passenger side that produces a small vacuum leak upon receiving an electric signal and speeds the idle up. When rpm sensor detects increased speed it will engage the compressor. There is a sensor on the compressor that measures rpm and it should measure 100-130 ohms resistance at 68 F.

Could you PM me where you purchased that stuff?!? Best I could find is $430 for the compressor alone.
