hey guys whats goin on? right now i have a 1987 toyoa camry with the 3sfe engine and a automatioc in it. i was thining about swapping the motor out to a 3 sgte engine and some kind of tranny. my questions are.... what tranny do yall guys recommend, does the motor bolt right up? i was thinking about getting this... http://www.jdmracingmotors.com/index...rs&motor_id=35 it comes with pretty much almost everything. what yall guys think? i'm trying to get as much information as i can and its all greatly appreciated. thanks.
You're on the right track, an all-out engine swap is really about the only way to make these turds fast. I can't give you much info about the swap, other than to say that if you do a search there's a couple of pretty informative threads about this swap, although it's into a Gen 2 (1988 - 1991). Not sure how much difference there is between a Gen 1 and Gen 2 regarding this.
yeah i've read quite a few threads and the motor swap itself is basically simple as can be. the hard part is the tranny. i can get the motor and tranny and ecu and all from that sight i put on the first post. i can bolt my tranny up to the motor i think but its week and wouldn't last long. i'm about to say screw it.
i just did the thing where you open up the AFM box or whatever that thing next to the air intake is and adjust the cog 4 clicks. Really woke the engine up.

tranmission you have now actually can work on the 3sgte...
but in all honesty, the a140 will not tolerate the power well. the camry manual transmission can handle to power of the 3sgte better than the auto can. I think the tranmission you want is the e52? or maybe the e53? I'm not sure. I think charlie's camry has the all wheel drive trans out of the st205. but he had someone make it so power would only go to the fronts.
oh ok so my auto will bolt up to the 3sgte motor? that will be good for now untill i get the money for a 5 speed swap.so the motor will bolt in place? the wireing is the worse part i hear??? why is that?
although the a140 will bolt onto the 3s block, I highly discourage you from doing that... your tranny will not last very long at all. I blew up my a140 trans with the 3sfe... and had to have it rebuilt. a140's are crap.
well you'r putting in an engine not meant for the car.... and the harness is on the wrong side of the car.... not to mention it has different sensors in different locations... remember clips are of right hand drive cars.
the point is it's not easy. i'm not trying to discourage you. but unless you have at least 5,0000$ saved up there's no point talking about it.

well i was an electrician for a year 1/2 and i am my new job is working on wireing harnesses for cranes so i know a good bit about wiring but i agree with a few people on here... if i want to make somethin faster get something that is easier. i'll just keep this car as my w ork car and get a honda or something. thanks for the help guys.
It basically comes down to how much money you are prepared to part with, how long you can afford to have your car out of service, and available work area and tools.

WISE move!!!!!........these cars are great for reliable, economical transportation, that's what they were designed for.....you want fast?....get a WRX STi, factory fast and AWD
i just did the thing where you open up the AFM box or whatever that thing next to the air intake is and adjust the cog 4 clicks. Really woke the engine up.
That's the first I've heard of this mod. I take it you adjust the cog 4 notches to reduce spring pressure?
