how to test Air flow sensor Voltage

What do I need to do/have in order to test the voltage that the air sensor sends to the computer,
I am going to swap in a MassAirFlow sensor in the place of my stock vane air flow meter, which has a metal plate inside that restricts the flow.
I need the voltage so I can find an aftermarket sensor that gives out the same voltage.
any help appreciated thanks..

I recall that there is a section in the Camry manual that explains how to troubleshoot the MAF. It measures resistance. Would that work for you?

Otherwise you could also use the manual to determine which of the MAF contacts were sending the information to the computer. Gently pry off the plastic cap and you will see how the air vane's sensor travels over an electric plate. Hook the MAF up to a battery. Hook a voltmeter up to the appropriate contact(s) and see what the voltage is at the different ranges. You might be able to determine what you need from that.

However, I'd stick with an identical replacement MAF sensor, it is also sending other info to the computer.
