90 Toyota Camry

Hey whats up dudes, is putting money into the 3S-FE engine really worth it. I have done a simple CAI. These are my next upgrades, to get a universal MSD ignition wire set with some NGK iridium spark plugs to give it a little more power. I also plan on putting in some Pacesetter Headers and an Unorthodox Racing Crank Pulley. Another thing is since I don't care about A/C and Power Steering, all that is coming out. I have the basic model with nothing being power and I like that. I have stripped the back for weight reduction and put in a strut bar from Ebay. The bad thing is that it was my moms so its automatic, and if I could get a reference to a which manual tranny to get so i can make it into a 5 speed that be cool. I've done some reading with many threads but still want a second opinion. Once I get done with school though, I plan on putting in a 3S-GTE and build it to about 300 whp but thats when i get my career going. thanx for the time. Also you can check out my ride on CarDomain.

Welcome to the forum yotaboy!

To answer your first question: no.

I've also read the tranny swap threads, and all the info you need is there. There really isn't any "second opinions" necessary. Your best choice of tranny is listed there. If you're really serious about a 3S-GTE swap though, you may be better off just living with the slushbox until you're ready to do the engine swap.

BTW: removing your rear seat cusions and trunk carpet doesn't make your car any faster, it just makes it louder inside. And what's the point of the hood spacers? You're circumventing an important safety feature. There are heavy duty hooks on each side of the firewall that (theoretically) keep the hood from coming thru the windshield and decapitating you in the event of a hard front-end collision.

I do like your intake and strut brace though.

any 87-02 5spd tranny from another camry with 4cyl engine will work. good plan doing the 5spd swap first..while you save up more $... it's day and night from auto to 5spd.

Thanks guys, this really helps cuz my friends all have hondas and acuras, so that makes me the odd ball. This project is for me to be able to kick their ass, but thats in a while. But I'm completely serious about the 3S-GTE swap but later on. Thanks.

My buddy is all into spraying, and he's got some pretty serious setups on his Lightning and in his Caddy. I don't like the idea of spraying... I'd rather not mess with it unless I was really serious about racing it. I'd rather do a low-boost turbo setup.
