Gen1 Air bags for '86?

Does anyone know if someone makes a bolt on air bag system for an '86 camry? If they dont, does anyone know how I would go about making custom brackets to fit my camry?

I have seen an aftermarket steering wheel with an airbag made for cars without airbags but it looks very ugly. I don't think it's being sold anymore though.

I looked into this years ago when I inherited my Dad's 1974 Dodge Dart in the mid 80s. The rear springs were sagging and I saw an ad for air springs. The company made air springs for vehicles(mostly trucks and Caravans) with rear leaf springs or for vehicles that had coil springs w/o stuts in the springs. Your 86 most likely has rear strut type suspension and therefore can't have an inserted air spring.

Well, thx for the horrible news....I guess

So does anyone know how I could make my own brackets or something for an air ride? Like could I take apart a strut an modify it to fit an air bag where the spring was? Any help would be really nice.

There was a point in time, I had my heart set on an air ride setup for my '90 camry. Instead I went a simplier route and put on the 1.5" drop Intrax springs with the KYB GR-2 struts. I am glad I went the intrax and kyb route, the ride is so nice, along with whiteline sway bars front and back, strut tower and 17x7 wheels, the ride is amazing, very stiff and run cornering.
I have heard, the air rides can feel a bit mushy and I wouldn't trade anything for my current stiff sporty ride! But that is just my opinion...

anyone know if struts from an '87 will fit an '86? Cuz I found an air ride kit for an '87. And I was lookin at stock struts and the '87 and '86 look about the same except that the '87 looks a little lower. So if someone knows for sure if it will fit or not please tell me

Thx
