Seafoam

Hey guys,

Recently got a 1991 Camry with 180,000 miles on it. Everything on the car works splendid and is in very reasonable condition. I got this car for $200 bucks from a friend who recently purchased the new Altima. Having only a 2-seater as a daily driver, this car will help alleviate the excessive mileage I'd put on the Honda and allow me to use this car without feeling the burden or worrying about the car's well being (generally).

Anyway, I'd like to Seafoam this car, but at the same time I am concerned that this engine has too many miles. Perhaps the gunks and carbon build ups are stopping leaks? Anyway, anyone with experience please chime in!

Thanks!

I Seafoam everything, even my wife!

Kidding.

Anyway, I've Seafoamed some pretty old/high mileage cars. Our '94 Corolla got its first Seafoaming at 212k miles and it still runs like a top.

Do the seafoam. I use seafoam on all my cars, even the ones with 250K plus on them. Always with good results.

if you're worried about the seals and gaskets deteriorating, don't put seafoam in the crankcase. just put it in the gas tank, and thru the brake booster.

If it hasn't been done already, you probably need to replace the head gaskets at the least, and pray that your main seals are still in tact. My rear main seal had deteriorated over time and at around 190k/200k it had to be replaced. $800+ @ the stealership >_<

for me, i was losing about a quart of oil every 300+ miles. you'll see massive oil leaks all over the transmission, and underneath the transmission [driver's side].
