Question Replacing Rear Shocks

hey all~

i have an '89 camry wagon that i want to replace the rear shocks on.

i think the main trick for me is going to be that i don't have a spring compressor.

does anybody have any thoughts on whether i NEED one -
and if so, how to jury-rig, or maybe rent one?

and of course i'd appreciate any other tips & tricks you may have.
cheers-
d

You will need one. Rent, borrow, get a loaner, etc. You can fabricate one from threaded rod bar stock but more trouble then it is worth.

Suggest making sure the new shocks are the same layout of the old in case you were given the wrong part.

Dig thorugh the link below to find service info on this car.
