87 Auto Tranny / overdrive

I have a 87 with a 3SFE and a automatic tranny. The tranny shifts fine through 3rd gear, but acts like it isn't fully going into overdrive at highway speeds. It acts like it is not fully engaging into overdrive - kind of like it is slipping, or trying to decide with gear it should be in. If I turn the overdrive off and get to highway speeds and turn overdrive on, it goes into overdrive slowly. The tranny has 165 K on it, and I have changed the flilter and fluid. Any chance of it being the overdrive solinoid?

I put a JDM tranny in my last Camry and it shiftred firmly in all gears - I guess it spoiled me!

Flushing the tranny? Is that the same as changing the fluid?

Any thoughts on the solinoid theory?

The auto tranny is the weak link in these cars!!!!!!!!!!!!
