2G Electrical Questions

I have a couple of basic questions about some electrical stuff on the 87 wagon:

1. I have a set of dual filament(1157)front bumper lamp/turn signal housings. I guess these came on the v6? Will these plug-n-play on a 4cyl equipped car? Do they stay on like the corner running lamps? The reason for that last question is that I have never seen a Camry running around with bumper running lights, maybe I have just missed that somehow..

2. Which radiator fan is the coolant fan? Meaning which one is not for the a/c? I have gutted most of the parts, and would like to eliminate one of the fans if possible.

Thanks in advance!

The left (when facing the front of the car) fan is the one you want to keep. When I turn my key to the On position, that's the one that comes on.

So the passenger side one?

My car does the same thing, the passenger side fan comes on whenever the key is in the "on" position. I honestly dont think that is how it is supposed to work. Shouldnt the fans only come on when:

the coolant fan temperature sensor gets to a certain temp

OR

the a/c is switched on

????

That's how all my other yotas work...

you got either a bad fan relay... or the temp sensor is broken... it's designed to turn on whenever the car is on due to one of those being bad so your won't overheat in the middle of nowhere.

The dual filament housings are used on late '90 and '91 model year Camrys. Only the high filament is used. They changed to clear front turn signal covers and needed amber bulbs to put behind them and the 1157's were the only ones available at the time. They bolt on and plug in to earlier Camrys - the plug is up behind the bumper near the corner light. You will not gain running lights with them though.

Both radiator fans are equal. There is not one that is specific to cooling or A/C, even though they are labeled that way in the diagrams and fuses. They both come on at a low speed for normal A/C operation (power runs through them in series) and they both come on high speed to cool the motor. If you really want to get rid of one of the fans (and you already got rid of your A/C!!!), you can remove either fan. I ran without a second fan for a while when I had a turbo on my original motor and didn't have room for the stock fan and hadn't gotten a slim fan yet.
