Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Am I crazy to think that this should go for like $3500-4000? The guy didn't seem like he was going to go down more than about $500. I already had my dad take it for a test drive (he lives about an hour from the dealer) and it is the real deal - very clean with only very minor problems.
In case anyone is wondering, this would be used to make the 'Ultimate Camry' with the parts from my current Camry after a few months of daily driver duty. 300+hp, AWD, and LE luxury.

PS. I call dibs!

IMO, A 16 year old Camry shouldnt cost that much regardless of the circumstances.....the car is NOT a collectible. My dad is a car dealer and Ive spent a greater part of my life at dealer auctions. Now Im not saying that the car is shit(it's probably a fine automobile), all Im saying is that's too much dinero($) for it. The dealer who's selling it is trying to make a "mint" for sure.
The price they're asking for is even above blue book value for 6cyl version in excellent condition [$4,930 for v6 w/ my gen2 v6 option; $4,765 that car's options and model]
see if you can get private party value for it from the dealer
is it CA spec? that's gotta be rare. it's up to you... the buyer determines the price... if it doesn't move i'm sure they'll lower the price
Yup, originally a CA car - it has been in that area since new.
My dad said the car has been there for like 4 weeks already. I'll be calling them again in a little over a week to let them know that they still have a buyer if the price is right.
The $3500 price that I was aiming for is exactly because that is the blue book private party 'excellent' value. Seeing how I can get a decent running normal 4-cylinder auto all day long at $1500-2000 here in SoCal, the extra features and low mileage seem to be worth $2k-ish.

The KBB Dealer Value is supposed to be the *list* price of a car in *excellent* condition. This car is in very good (not quite excellent) condition, and there is some room for negotiations in the KBB price.
That said, KBB is not everything. Go try to find a '84-'86 Corolla GTS for KBB price.
