temp gauge on 87 3sfe

What have I did? Replaced the distributor cap and now my heat gauge quit!
Checked to see if my ham handed ways knocked something loose but that didn't help. Anybody got an idea? Maybe the sensor just decided to give up?

Hah! Corrosion!!!!!!! Must have broken the contact that was being made by the crud! Pushing and wigglin on it to make sure it was tight wasn't doing anything but making it worse. The more I thought about it the more it HAD to be either a bad connection or a dead sensor! Have to pull the wire to remove the sensor.
Cleaned her off and greased her up and she's fine!

Thanks for answering
