well, now that my stereo is installed and everything is all good its time for me to fix all the mechanical issues with this car. problem is many parts have been replaced already, and this car has 400k on it. the car itself runs strange, when at idle the car kinda jumps. hard to explain but she aint running right. checking the timing today. doesnt seem the eat much oil either which is nice. what are the problem areas for this car? what tends to go? the struts in this car are done, they must be replaced. how hard is that? pretty easy from wht i can see. any insight would be nice. oh, lol the car is a 1990 camry LE 4 cyl.

seafoam it, give it a tune up, clean your TB.. should solve the idle problem.... seeing how you electrical taped your wire connections for the radio... i bet you won't spring for a spring compressor... so i wouldn't replace the strut w/o that tool

Wow 400K...that car is super straight.

Does it feel like a misfire at idle?

I would always suggest replacing the spark plugs first...always helps to smooth a rough idle. You might also look at replacing the cap and rotor, plug wires, and fuel filter.

I've heard alot of mixed reviews regarding seafoam...you can search the entire camry forum I can't give my own opinion because i haven't tried it on any of my own cars. Personally I would check the injectors. It could be a simple fuel system flush.

yes i do use electrical tape. and i use it religously. not because im cheap and broke. because i like it and it worx. you wanna tell me what wrong with that? and ya ill just go buy a spring compressor. smart ass. the car is in really good shape. interior is mint, little rust and really straight. ill be doing the plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, timing, checking the fuel injection. and doing the struts next weekend.

the idle is way 2 low, supposed to be around the 800 - 900 rpm mark not 100 - 500 lol maybe ajust idle speed as that rough idle may mean close to stalling dunno anything past tht soz l8r
