Alternator bad? 89 Camry

Hey guys,

Ive been reading up but havent posted in a bit, and then i realized the problems ive been having, maybe anyone has an idea. When i turn my car on, 3 extra lights come on, (ones that i dont want to see on.. ) mainly, the battery light, the emergency brake light, and the "lights" warning light. Now at first i thought it could be the alternator, from asking other people. But when im driving, and i hit a bump or i go into 3rd gear, they shut off, and then come back on at a later time. I dont know whats going on, and before i take it to a place who can check it out, i would like to have an idea whats going on. Any ideas?

Shuluke

PS. I have been working on few projects lately, maybe ill post them when i finish them.

hey man i dont know whats up but i know of two guys that you can get a HO alternaor for at a good price. one guy is more reliable and seems better to me than the other but his price is more.

these will give you 160 amps or so compared to the 80 amp stock alternator.

ill post later.

PS what projets? they might have caused some probems.

My alternator did the same thing when it was dying. Your gonna have to get a new one. Just make sure you have a warranty, my replacement one went bad again after only 3 months!

Um.. none of the projects are related to my car. well one is but i havent put it in yet. Ok how much is another alternator compared to the one that gives out 160 amps? Id rather go the cheaper way, because i dont know how long ill be keeping this car.

My first project, which is about 65% complete, are spinners on a skateboard. Yes thats right folks, and they really spin. Ive been having time problems with the friend whos my machinest to cut the wheels to fit the spinners inside, but i hope to have them on and spinning by next week. I thought it would be funny going from class to class in "Style". The actual spinners are chromed, and are almost a spitting image of the real Spintech Masks. And yes, they do keep spinning.
As for my other project, im getting ready to do a mad install of stereo equiptment in my car. I have 2 12'' HX2 power subs from Rockford, that take 2000 watts max each. The problem i have is the building of the boxes, because me and my friends are not finding time to start it. I havent made my mind yet, but i think either ill push each with an 800s Rockford amp, or push 1600watts by hooking up 2 800s; one on each voice coil. I have allready ordered 4 amps, But since im getting mad discount, if i dont use what i got, ill sell them all at below selling price. Im still contimplating adding another battery or putting a few capacitators in, im not sure yet though. If what i have is too much, i can always sell the extra. I know this is confusing, but im excited.

PS. I am still reading up on the projectors, Ive just been to busy to check junkyards for another set of headlights.

ok not the projects i was thinking of, but cool.

your mad install is gonna kill your alternator if you replace it with stock 80 amp. especially if it a rebuilt replacement alt.
the upgraded 160 amp alternator will supply more juice for your amp and battery(s) i have a 1500 watt amp and a decent starting battery. the alternator is giving its all and i am only pushing 400 watts right now from it a 4 ohms. it will pull more amps and a bigger load but im still working on my stereo. i also have a 2x100 wrms amp for my front but it doesnt pull much.

if you have the money for your stereo that has no preformance affect on your car except slow it down, why dont you have the money to put into making your car run better and provide for your stereo?

- has 165 amp alternator (remanufactured) with 1 yr warranty for $160 USD

dominick@tds.net
-NEW 180 amp for $339.00 w/ 1yr warranty

a lot of people reccomend dominick, other guy was referred to me by Matt (obillabong from the forum) he has a gen 2 camry witht the 165 amp alt.

i would at least get the 165 amp alternator if your gonna hook up that mad system.

goodluck

You have to remember.....An upgrade Alt. DOES NOT put out more amps at idle.....IT PUTS OUT LESS. A 160-180 amp Alt. puts out that rating at a HIGHER speed than a stocker puts out it's 50-80 amps. You will have to spin the Alt FASTER at idle to get the higher output.
