High Output Alternator - Gen 2

I'm looking to get a high output alternator to power my car stereo. I am looking between 150-200 amps. Does anybody have an alternator on their Gen 2 putting out this type of amperage? How much do you get at idle? How much around 2000rpm? Where did you get it and roughly how much was it? Thanks!

Joey

There are pics here, http://car.joeyconway.com . I have three amps, all JL Audio, 1 300/4 and 2 1000/1 . Along with an eclipse avn5495 deck, dvd, nav and hard drive. Also quite a few neons, outside and inside. It all adds up to a large power consumption! Do you know anybody who has used alternators from mrlaternator.com ? Thanks!

I bought a Mr. Alternator 150A alt a couple years ago. I have two 10inch Infinity Kappa Perfects attached to an Infinity Reference 610A and everything was dipping when the bass hit so I decided to get the new alt.
It worked well, but it only cut in at about 900-950rpm. I measured around 14.8V at 2000rpm, but I didn't measure the amps, sorry. I don't have an ammeter that goes beyond a couple milliamps (I know, pretty lame).
However, something's wrong and I don't have the time to figure out why the alt is now only giving me 13.8V at 2000 (voltage regulator?...no time to investigate).
But, the alt. did work well, and I may have damaged it during an engine swap where I shorted out the battery and may have since put a little too much strain on the alt.

I got a quote from a dude who does custom alternators (it's an online vendor)... which ended up being way over what I expected -- around $650. It was 170A, which is a 100A improvement, but... for me, it's not worth it. If this car wasn't rusting, I'd do so much to it. I love this vehicle, but I feel like, while repairing rust spots might slow the process down, it won't stop it. Hence, "body cancer"...

It worries me a little to hear your problem because I've gone through two custom alternators that work orginally and then end up with problems where they don't charge at idle or sometimes charge and sometimes don't.
I haven't found any answers and am purchasing my third custom high output alternator this week. I hope this one is a keeper! I am going to keep my new rebuild dealership alternator laying around incase this new one fails.

My main goal is to find an alternator that will put out 70-100amps at idle, my engine seems to idle around 600-700rpm.
