unfortunately, these will be a no go... the max rim size you can go (in australia) legally is a 16" rim, and thats just to preserve the speedo from tracking vaguely accurately.

the offset will be a problem with standard subaru rims, especially at 17". your rears will be scrubbing the inside guard and the fronts will scrub at lock.

better bet are audi rims, which are 5x100, bore size is very similar and the offset is nearly the same. I got a set of 16" BBS audi rims off the S4 and they fit pretty well (needs a very small spacer at the rear)

2nd Generation

the max rim size is not 16", all my local wheel guys can hook me up with 17s no prob, and yes its legal 2. i know ppls in the industry and they sed theyve put 17s on em b4.

and as for the subi rims they will work fine with a spacer, nd if they scrub ill just beat out the wheel well.

audi s4 not bad but still rather 17 subis or aftermarket 17s

you can put any size wheels in australia provided that the overall radius of the wheel and tyre package remains the same as the original. e.g. gen3 camrys came out with 205/65 R15. i have 215/50 R17, so i have basically reduced my aspect ratio to compensate for the increase in rim diameter.

a good calculator if you want to know what tyre size to use when you upsize your rims is here: http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html
