2nd Generation will these tires fit?

I have a chance to get a decent set of used tires for my '90 Camry. They are 205/70/14's. The stock tires are 185/70/14's. Will these clear the suspension parts? I'm sure somebody here has tried this already.
Thanks,

MR

those tires will likely rub in the back on the bottom end of the strut/spring.

/70/ is the size of the side wall with respect to the tire width... so the /70/ on a 205 wide tire is greater than /70/ on a 185 tire.

So they're bigger than your stock tire, and will make your speedo drive to slow. For example, you're going 50 MPH (real speed) your speedo will tell you you're traveling at 44 MPH or something like that. While this is actually good for improving your gas milage, it will affect your car's acceleration negatively. The camry is already sluggish enough, especially if you're driving a 4cyl. You won't like the car if you put those on most likely.

On my car, I run something that is not stock size. I have 195/60/14's They are smaller than stock size, and there for give me slightly better acceleration. They're tread is one centimetre wider than the stock size as well, and I like how the car handles with the falken zeix.

anyhow, a 205 wide tire is kind of pushing it on a 5.5 inch wide rim.

I am running 215/40/17 on my car and they fit perfect! Snug as a rug. A sidewall of 70 is a bit large on your car, I personally wouldn't use those tires. I do enjoy having wider tires though, the grip is amazing!

Hey man, nice ride! I usually don't like the light blue on the gen2's but your car looks good.

As for tire sizes, it's a safe general rule that you shouldn't go more than one size up or down if you want to maintain stock performance and handling. Therefore, a 195 or a 175 tire (up one or down one from the 185/70/R14) is a safe bet. Any wider or narrower is no guarantee.

I work at a scrap yard, and I've tried a LOT of tire sizes on my V6 camry. The stock size for the V6 is 195/60/R15. After multiple trials I have stuck with 195/65/R15 for the past year...plush, firm ride and the extra sidewall fills in the wheel wells on the car nicely.

For my I4 Camry (the one my fiancée's driving right now), I wanted better grip for the several dozen times a year she has to swerve to avoid deer/moose on the highway. I grabbed a set of Celica rims (1993 GT) and they bolted on no problem. The tires are 205/55/R15, and surprisingly they don't rub at all.
