How long are autos mated with the 3SFE good for?

I'm curious as to how long the auto transmissions in these usually last. I've a '91 I bought with 128k on it and it now has 130.5. When I was driving yesterday I let off the gas in OD and felt a dull surging, almost as if OD was slipping...felt like free rolling, engine slowing down the car, free rolling, etc. I can sometimes show reluctance shifting into 4th when cold but it's fine once warmed up.

It doesn't seem to do that when I'm just cruising in OD.

I know it really depends on how the cars are driven, but what's the usual lifespan? One of the first things I had done to my Camry when I got it was a complete trans flush (a real trans flush, none of that fake aamco stuff). Thanks all!

From what I've read, the Gen2 tranny's are a weak spot on the car. I personally have one with about 250,00 miles and it still works great, but I have taken care of it.

When I go to the local help yourself wreckers, there are usually many gen2's in the yard. I looked at the odometers on several of them, they are generally in the range of 150-300,000 miles, I saw a couple with 450-500,000 kilometers (300,000 miles)

I made a point to notice how many had the engines and transmissions pulled, most of them still had the drivetrain still in the car. But with an auto, it is absolutely essential to maintain it.
