frontend noise

When I'm stopped and turn the wheel all the way left or right and pull out the frontend (I think it's the drivers side) makes this clicking/slight grinding noise. What could this be? I checked the CV joints and the all felt tight and the boots were fine but I can't see anything else that could make that noise. The tires not rubbing.

I am getting the same noise, just waiting for my new CV shaft off eBay.

When taking your old drivers side one off (if you do it yourself) just undo the 6 bolts around the middle one and slide it down and out, I spent a while trying to take off the tie rod ends etc.. when all I had to do was that.

Yep, sounds like a dying CV joint. They break inside the boots sometimes.

I can only assume that you guys are talking about crummy reman's crapping- out while the boot is intact. My passenger side CV is original, at 390K km and still running strong. The driver's side went only because the boot tore in the depth of winter and salt got in there. Original/dealer parts are bulletproof for these cars, in my experience.

I'm actually talking about FWD cars in general. I've had no experience changing joints on Toyotas (thank god) even though the '94 Corolla's boot has been torn for years. I just stick some high temp grease in there when I do oil changes...
